This site is written by a real person and researched with the help of AI. We would rather say exactly where each of those starts and stops than leave you guessing.
Who writes this site
Japan Wander Trail is run and written by Hiroki, who lives in Aichi Prefecture. The About page has the details. The judgement calls — what gets published, what gets cut, what a guide actually recommends — are made by a person, and that person is responsible for everything here.
Where AI is used
- Research. Gathering and cross-checking Japanese-language sources — facility pages, municipal notices, transport operators, manufacturers.
- Drafting and editing. Turning that research into readable English.
- Some illustrations and diagrams. Never presented as photographs.
Where AI is not used
- Deciding what to recommend. Recommendations are the writer's, and they are made by conditions — who a thing suits, and who should skip it.
- Manufacturing experience. Nothing on this site claims a visit, a meal, a purchase, or a result that did not happen.
What we will not do
- Invent an experience to make a guide sound more authoritative.
- Claim qualifications the writer does not hold.
- Present AI-generated imagery as a photograph of a real place, product, or person.
- Attach a made-up success story to an affiliate link.
- Hide any of this. Where a platform offers a disclosure field, we use it.
Why the Japanese sources matter
Most English-language writing about Japan is built on other English-language writing. A detail gets copied, then copied again, and it stays online long after the rule changed.Starting from the Japanese source is the whole point of this site — and it is the part AI genuinely helps with, because reading a lot of Japanese quickly is exactly what it is good at.
