How the site works
Editorial Policy
Japan Wander Trail exists to make the practical parts of Japan easier to understand before a small mistake becomes an expensive one.
Who is responsible
The site is written and edited by Hiroki, who lives in Aichi, Japan. The final decisions about what to publish, what to recommend, and what to leave out are made by a person. We do not present another person’s visit, purchase, or result as our own experience.
How a guide is researched
We combine Japanese official sources, provider information, local context, firsthand experience where it exists, and editorial comparison. For claims that can change — such as transport rules, opening hours, prices, booking terms, or seasonal restrictions — we check a current source and direct readers to the responsible provider or public authority when the detail matters.
A guide is not a substitute for an official source, a booking provider, or professional legal, medical, visa, or financial advice. Readers should confirm live conditions before travel.
How recommendations are made
We do not publish a universal ranking just because a product is popular or pays a commission. Recommendations are explained by fit: who the option suits, what it costs in effort or trade-offs, and when a reader should skip it. If there is no useful product or booking option to link, we leave the link out.
Commercial relationships
Some pages contain affiliate links. The relationship and the possible commission are disclosed near the article and explained in our Affiliate Disclosure. Commercial relationships do not turn a provider into an editorial authority, and a link is not proof that a product is right for every traveler.
Updates and corrections
We show publication and, when applicable, update dates on guides. When a rule, price, schedule, or provider term changes, we review the affected passage and update the source or explain what is no longer current. Readers can report an error through the Contact page; corrections take priority over defending an old sentence.
Use of AI
AI can help organise research, compare source material, edit English, or create an illustration. It does not supply a fabricated experience, decide a recommendation without human review, or replace checking a claim that may have changed. The full process is in our AI Policy.
What we will not do
- Publish thin pages whose only purpose is to place a link.
- Hide a material commercial relationship from the reader.
- Claim first-hand testing, expertise, or results that do not exist.
- Use an old article as authority when the underlying rule has changed.
