Japan Wander Trail is operated by an independent publisher based in Aichi, Japan. This page explains what information the site collects, what third parties may collect through it, and how the affiliate links in our articles work. We have tried to keep it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.
What we collect ourselves
Almost nothing. This site sets no analytics cookies of its own and has no login, comment system, or user accounts. We do not build profiles of visitors and we never sell personal data.
When someone selects a small number of important navigation links, such as the free Starter Kit, the site requests an anonymous event URL. This lets us compare aggregate request counts in Cloudflare’s standard delivery data. The event contains only the name of the link, sets no cookie, and is not connected to an email address or visitor profile.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard server request data (such as IP address, browser type, and the pages requested) in order to deliver pages and protect against abuse. That processing is described inCloudflare's privacy policy.
Advertising and cookies
Some pages on this site may display advertising served by Google, including through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet. If you email us, we keep that message so we can reply to it. If you choose to join a mailing list from this site, we store the address you give us and use it only to send what you signed up for. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes your address.
Our mailing list is hosted by EmailOctopus, which stores subscriber addresses and sends messages on our behalf. Their handling of that data is described inEmailOctopus's privacy policy. We never sell or share your address with anyone else.
Children
This site is written for adults planning or thinking about travel to Japan. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to its processing. Since we hold almost nothing beyond email you have sent us, most such requests are straightforward. Contact us and we will act on it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means the updated policy applies.
